Ok, you know those AU's where desmond's ancestors can hear Desmond and know he's controlling them. What if desmond survived the temple and after a series of events had to go through Shay's memories. I feel like Desmond would like Shay, especially after that voice note you can listen to in Valhalla. The one where desmond talks about how having freedom also includes having the right to take away your own freedom.

The problem with Wikipedia is that it has rendered all other encyclopedias extinct or out of view (the exception are fandom encyclopedias, I guess, but those have their own problems). And people need in-depth information which also isn't highly specific academic papers that only tackle one specific thing in depth without wider context (my main problem when researching, for example, pre-columbian cultures.)
And competitors to Wikipedia like, you know, Encyclopedia Brittanica (I actually read it sometimes, and it's good until it hits you with straight up XIX imperialist apologia) aren't really good either. There is also a drought of encyclopedias in Spanish as all search results are absorbed by Wikipedia, this is why I hoard all sorts of PDFs and books, because the results in Spanish are just Spanish Wikipedia (probably the WORST of all major Wikipedias) and random SEO blogs.
There should be lots of online encyclopedias on different topics written by experts, ideally with some oversight because Wikipedia can be very, very biased when it wants (you can tell some people are really masturbating to Byzantine emperors), but I think this is a lost cause too since Google search, which let's face it, it's 99% of all internet searches, is declining into mush fast. And with AI generated content, things are going to get worse. I think we're honestly reaching a tipping point in the internet regarding access to reliable information.
At the end, my suggestion is that you go and download books, actual published books, and keep your sources broad. Because I think we're reaching a point where information on the internet is going to decline. It won't be lost, it will just be impossible to find unless you do a deep dive, or worse, mumbled into SEO/AI garbage misinformation.

yeah I didn't think the next thing I was gonna draw would be thalukethan either but I'm adhd and I have Thoughts about them
#I don't think there's any universe where thalia joins the titan's army after seeing how luke endangered annabeth#but for funsies in the impossible au where she joins him in the titan's curse I think she and luke and ethan should get poly lol#I see luke introducing her to his squad and trying to come off as confident and very In Control of his troops/monsters#but internally there's a feeling of like ... Yeah here's my crew of fucking weirdos. I don't want her to get freaked out and leave#also he wants to makeout with her real bad lol I think he would really want to rush their reconnection because he might#loosely interpret her willingness to join him as a willingness to rekindle lost affections and that's not totally accurate#and then thalia meets ethan and there's a special awkwardness there because he's the one Demanding Prestige for minor gods and then#here comes the nepo baby ass daughter of the king of the gods. I think he'd feel some animosity+jealousy that she's#automatically awarded such importance in the titan's army (as well as her blatantly absorbing luke's attention because he likes luke ofc)#he's like You looked better as a tree and she's like I'm going to chop you into firewood#and luke is like “Ok glad they're getting along.” anyways once ethan figures out that thalia is hot then things can go somewhere#thaluke#lukethan#thalia grace#luke castellan#charlie bushnell#ethan nakamura#pjo hoo toa tsats#percy jackson and the olympians#thalukethan#riordanverse#pjo fanart#bayearts#pjo tv series

truly the shittiest take in spn fandom is the 'sam is controlling and manipulative' take mostly because it comes from wincesties/bibros, like one would think they had understood and actually watched the show but no! i hate the way every part of the fandom mischatacterizes sam to fit their own preferences
ikr? the saddest thing is that you’d think sam’s character would be understood by the wincest part of the fandom because it’s sam’s ship as much as it’s dean’s
honestly it’s astonishing how most wincest shippers see him in the exact same way d*stiel shippers do

This is so based in fact I spiraled out of these tags into an AU of an AU, crazy innit?
Here are the doodles I did based off these tags my ramblings will be below the read more lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, so in the whole AwesomeG and Zander AU (I have dubbed it the Finding Peace AU), AwesomeG and Zander both become entities/ghosts in the machine after their untimely deaths and travel through other minecraft instances to find Zander's unamed friend, beat Souler up for being an asshole, and find peace along the way.
But in the crossover AU which I shall dub uhhh Chasing Souls, AwesomeG ends up in quite the peculiar minecraft instance (its Smilerrrrrr's 💥💥💥 specifically the second world with the bigger green house)
AwesomeG kind of hangs about this kid, not really making their presence known. But, the kid seems a bit lonely. And something about the world that rubs AwesomeG the wrong way. They have taken the mantle to defend this world from anything malevolent. It sticks to them like mildew.
So they introduce themself! Through chat of course (I legit forgot Hungry can talk through chat and not just in-game text.) And AwesomeG hopes the kid doesn't freak out and log off. And while he does seem a bit put off, he replies back!
And so they kick it off! AwesomeG is always there to be by tia kid's side whenever he logs on. And while they can't meet face to face (weird ghost gore stuff happens when anyone looks at AwesomeG, and they don't want that to happen with their newest friend), they still have fun! Building together. Naming animals together. Just he and AwesomeG.
It probably escalates until their friend tells them about the wells. They're magical, kind of just like you AwesomeG!
And then it clicks. Is that what's been bugging them? The wells?
And then the water above his head becomes clear. Large, depressing droplets circling and wavering above his head. Looming. An omen.
And then AwesomeG tries to steer him away from this thing. From these wells that preys on his friend. Because friends care about each other. They defend each other, and help each other. Because that's what friends are for.
And their friend says that they don't go down the wells anymore. So it's in their favor. Everything will work out.
Then it happens. The bullies. And AwesomeG does what they do best;they haunt.
So like, the sting of betrayal is still here. Smiler still spirals, but slower in this AU. And like, AwesomeG mitigates the damage done to the world and lowkey traumatized some hooligans with their corpse but its whateverrrrrr.
And yet after everything clears, the mark on their friend had become larger. And larger, and heavier and heavier and heavier. And theres only so much a lone spector can do.
So their friend says farewell. And their friend becomes Smiler. And their friends asks them to stay like last time. That they can be together forever in the well. Now they're the same! And now they can play this game to gheir hearts content. And Smiler can even look at AwesomeG now, isn't that amazing? (Entities can perceive each other just fine I reckon.)
But AwesomeG says no. It shouldn't have come to this. And Smiler gets confused. Because weren't they friends? They are friends. But their leaving him behind. Saying no to being friends forever. What happened? What changed? Why did they change? Was it all a lie? Were they just like them?
So uh, since AwesomeG died before hearing the Call of the Well, they're able to resist it. Or perhaps it calls upon them about a peace so gentle they wouldn't have to worry about heaven. Or maybe AwesomeG's religious belief beats out false promises, idk.
So AwesomeG wanders again. Traversing these wells onto maps and empty worlds.
Until a new one opens up.
And they tell him to stop.
AwesomeG is to Chris is kinda like what Chris is to Andrew. In the whole guidance sense, not friendship. AwesomeG tries to push Chris away from the wells to prevent another Smiler, which they probably feel guilty for. But Smiler already knows.
Oh and AwesomeG meets Zander around, eh, Septmeber 2017? They travel through Gridworld now. Trying to find pieces of Zander's soul and his friend and trying to help Chris and keep Smiler at bay and.
And it's the same steps tread. And they try to stop and reach beyond the machine (if Hungry can infiltrate minds, so can AwesomeG but for good this time 💥💥💥) to get Chris on a level head but it's too much. Like last time. And they fail again, like last time.
So now it's Andrew to be the third. And AwesomeG is like a more stubborn Chris at this point, in terms of motivation at the beginning of the AG67 series. They want to keep Andrew oblivious, like full on Lethe Protocol, forget everything and never look back. And Chris of course changes throughout the series, but perhaps AwesomeG becomes a new obstacle, but like the opposite problem.
But since AwesomeG is just a kid, a very guilt ridden and scared kid in this AU, and since I drew them and Chris hugging, they reconcile :]
Oh and Zander is there chilling. And Souler gets beat up because I say so (literal random piece of off the rails AU headcanon but Souler cant claim Andrew's, Chris', or Smiler's souls because they're marked by the Call of the Well already. First come first serve or whatever)
Okay enough rambling bye bye

I meme a lot about the latest banner and the various videos and lines it gave us but, if there is one thing it reignited about my general thoughts about Fodlan, it's frustration.
Or, why must we wait for Forging Bonds centered on dragons from other verses to have breadcrumbs about Nabateans and how they perceive their role and existence in Fodlan ?
Musings about the Seteth/Gotoh convo under the cut
Tumblr media
Imagine if that character learnt Rhea, the seemingly random Archbishop, was actually the legendary Saint Seiros revered through Fodlan, who also lived more for more than 1 000 years?
It seems that there are some Shambhala loyalists in Nemesis's forces. As long as they're around, we can expect them to continue with their cruel experiments. Yes. We have to. It's the only way to ensure nobody else will go through what I went through. We must obliterate them in the next battle. It's the only recompense for Edelgard's death.
Nah, let's not think about it and pour a cup of earl grey tea instead !
---
All jokes aside, this?
Is peak distortion/gap that exists between Fodlan characters in Fodlan, and Fodlan characters when they are logically explored outside of Fodlan, in FEH (or even for Billy, in FE17!).
Tumblr media
Seteth, in Fodlan, can never talk or mention his feelings, thoughts or experiences as a Nabatean walking alongside humanity in Fodlan.
The closest thing we have is Rhea's parting words in Golden Trashfire, where she laments that without Nabateans to guide them, humans are bound to repeat their mistakes of the past.
We infer Seteth agrees with her, but we never hear his version of what he thinks is his role in Fodlan... bar this FEH exclusive conversation, with a fellow dragon, Y!Gotoh.
Much like his siblings (?), Seteth finds humans fascinating - but the adapting and evolving according the "times they live in"? That's a pure FEH thing.
Tumblr media
It's Gotoh who has to point out - using "we" - how Seteth, and Rhea and Sothis, bestow their knowledge and guide humanity, passing on their teachings.
However, given how Gharnef isn't singing Jpop songs while wearing a sailor fuku of freedom, Gotoh's guidance and teachings are never thwarted in some "pointy ears control us", so this conversation, which is all about acceptance and what dragons can bring to humans, can be held.
It's only in FEH that Seteth can talk about what he feels, as a Nabatean, and how he also perceives himself as someone who can observe, but also guide humanity, passing on Sothis' teachings.
Tumblr media
This part about knowledge is interesting too, because Nabateans are known to have banned/slowed down knowledge (the various bans) and while Sothis shared freely hers, it led to Titanuses, giant missiles and war.
Through his interrogation about Athos' motives to teach "so many" apprentices (afaik there's only Pent? Unless he's talking about Eliwood and co?), we can guess he's making a direct parallel with Sothis' teachings being shared through the CoS, but also, in a way, his own guidance shared through the Officer's Academy.
Knowledge blooms when it is shared and put to good use...
This is a bit bittersweet coming from Athos, whose friend Nergal lost himself in the pursuit of "knowledge" and even more bittersweet when we take into account this convo is about Gotoh!
Tumblr media
Who is Gotoh's most famous student?
Tumblr media
Who developped Imhullu and brought the continent to ruin not once, but twice?
Since this FB is all about hope Naga had about peaceful coexistence with humans, the devs didn't want to add Gharnef to the "student-teacher" reunion that is Gotoh's last conversation lol, but that's the caveat : dragons can share their knowledge and walk alongside humanity... when humanity is supposed to use that knowledge to prosper, bring warm food or "light the world".
If humans don't use that resource properly though?
The world ends up with Gharnef, the Agarthans, CF!Billy, Fraud, etc etc.
And yet, both Gotoh, Athos and Nabateans - at least for the ones that aren't wiggling weapons - still share their wisdom with people because they hope for a better future.
In Fodlan?
Seteth could never say this, after all, someone says dragon blood is the reason why the world is irrational and broken, or reveal his identity to anyone but the player's avatar because someone says Fodlan has to become a world for humanity, and how Seteth's race isn't needed in said world.
All of the knowledge and wisdom Seteth shares is distorted through the game, by playable and non playable characters, without letting him just once chime in and saying that was not he intended, or meant, or envisaged. Seteth's role as one who guides humanity is erased, to either make place for the player's avatar, or to push a world for humanity, or in general, erased because Fodlan needs to enter a new dawn.
Seteth can never say how he finds humans fascinating - it's only something we infer since he accepted to walk with humans unlike Macuil and join Rhea in her Monastery - hell, in a way, Seteth can never be a "nabatean" in Fodlan, because this verse tries its hardest to ignore its dragon people.
And while I liked this new twist of dragon people - aka not have them only muse and talk about their role as people who guide humans and share knowledge, but as people who have their own worries and everyday lives (Seteth worrying about Flayn or being involved in Manu shenanigans or being picked on by Rhea, Macuil and Indech, etc etc) - given their different roles in Fodlan, Nabateans were never given any voice about what they feel towards humans, or what they feel their role is in Fodlan.
Only Rhea is allowed to, when she's either PTSD'ing hard, or preparing to sacrifice herself when she believes the Goddess finally returned, or when she marches to her death in Trashfire.
But for Seteth, a Nabatean who has less attachment to Sothis/Billy than Rhea has? Is he also feeling like he should act as Sothis' proxy, or is he feeling like he too, as a Nabatean who walks alongside humans, wants to guide them and help them propser in non "kill every pointy ears to gain power" way?
Fodlan cannot develop Seteth under this angle (or develop Nabateans tbf) for tea time reasons, but also, because at its core, FE16 is a game where the player's self insert + their lord of choice has to unify* the continent under their "IdEaLs" -> you can't build parasocial relationships to the extent FE Fodlan intended if there's suddenly a fourth/fifth faction that is all about wisdom and passing knowledge to help people prosper, especially if this faction has to be shat on by every party whenever possible, as Nopes demonstrated, to sell pots of tea.
And so, Nabateans can only exist outside of Fodlan, not in the Supreme sense, but whenever writers can develop and write them, without worrying about having to bend backwards to pretend the continent's writing and conflict has any shades of grey.
It's frustrating because there would have been ways to insert them, or this writing aka Seteth musing about his role as one who guides humans, in Fodlan, alas, it would lampshade how empty the writing is for some other characters who are supposed to be likeable enough to sell alts or worse, it would have ran contrary to what Kusihakara tried** to cook in the FE games he directed, aka, taking responsability for your actions is dead and you should rather direct the blame to some other party (remember when Duma is somewho responsible for Berkut Berning his fiancée or for Desaix's coup ?).
*AM's unification, aka Fraud fucking away from Fodlan to let Dimitri as the sole ruler of Fodlan, is as forced as his myopia during Gronder, and another example of KT forcing a sphere in a square shaped hole to make their point stand.
**FE15 by virtue of being a remake still had to keep the "madness lurks in dragon and human hearts" complete with writing Grima as Forneus' pet project that ultimately blew in his face, and AM has shades of it, but then everything vanishes after the "parley".

WAHHWAAHHHh OKK
I like my artstyle. I like how sharp and pointy it is and I like the way I shade. I also like all the ways that I can tell its mine and is so recognizable. It makes me feel happy :)
I like my perseverance. I think its one of my strongest traits. I start so many large projects(mostly animations lol) and I do actually finish most of them! If I put my mind to something I know it will eventually get done.
I like my collection of friends that I've gathered. I'm good at ensnaring the little freaks who vibe well with me and it makes me happy to set up events for us to all do together
I like how pleased I am with the little things. And if I'm feeling down it doesn't take too much to raise my spirits again
I like how I find love and beauty in so many places other people don't even think to look, bugs, horror movies, creepy dolls, monsters and more

While I think your theory about Hexcore rejecting Mel's magic sounds very plausible, I'm not sure if Mel actually knows what she can do with it or even about its existence. To me it felt like she what she did was more of a reflex, and subconsciously protected Jayce too. I also think she might've managed to shield more people if she knew what she was doing - but this is more of a speculation.
Hello anon!
I think your theories make a ton of sense! I love it whenever anybody investigates what Mel's thoughts and situation are like in the show. Arcane is endlessly fun because it rewards us for not taking what we see at face value.
We just don't get much of Mel's dialogue about the attack, so I can totally see it happening where Mel was told her gold parts are one thing, when they're actually another, and she doesn't know that they are Arcane objects that can create a shield. In that case, then yes, it makes perfect sense as well that she would run to Jayce out of sheer instinct.
I really love the idea that Mel could have shielded more people if she knew how to control her armor better, or at all. Mel is really burying her thoughts and emotions down deep this season, and I think she has some guilt that she's burying as well, while Jayce's feelings of guilt bubble to the surface immediately because he wears his heart on his sleeve. So she prefers to take care of Jayce rather than experience catharsis herself.
I've also played around with the idea that, if her magic really does clash with Viktor's, she could've protected everybody if Viktor had not been there for his magic to interrupt hers. I'm an angst fan, so I like the thought of Mel needing to contend with her desire to protect people and her failure to do so (whether it was ever in her control or not) - this is a desire and a failure that Jayce and Viktor share, by the way, so Mel struggling with that desire as well while not being a fighter or inventor herself would be fitting and an interesting twist on her character.
Personally, I am very interested in a situation where Mel does know that she has a shield, she knows it has limitations, and she has only a split second to make a critical decision: stay where she is and save a couple of her fellow Councilors (including Cassandra btw...) and probably Jayce, or run to Jayce and guarantee his safety while risking the others' lives? It says a lot about the depth of her feelings that she chose Jayce in this scenario. This makes Mel similar to Jayce - her emotions push her to make a choice that is best for her personally, but might hurt others around her, because her desire to protect what she loves is so strong in a crisis.
I do absolutely agree that Mel's shield works automatically. I don't think she controls whether it deploys or not. (The only point against that is that it seems like the armor warns her right before an attack - why do that unless it's Mel's job to activate the shield herself? We'll see) Given how tired she was at the start of ep1 though, it seems like it takes a lot out of her when it is used. Either the shield is single-use, or it takes a long time to "recharge," or it only works when Mel's life is actually in danger, which is why it didn't deploy when she was pistol-whipped at the memorial. This could also explain why Ambessa was comfortable with putting Mel in danger at the memorial - if something went wrong and someone did try to kill Mel, maybe the shield would have deployed after all. But we won't know that for sure until Mel is attacked again.
I personally think Mel is simply hiding the shield from everyone. So far from what we've seen, no one else in Piltover works with magic in any way unless they're a techmaturgist/engineer like Viktor or Jayce. Magic - non-Hextech magic - still appears to be taboo in Piltover society. I also think it's telling that in Mel's scene with Lest, there was a play going on about Demacia next to them, a place that hates and mistreats mages. This hints to me that Mel has reasons for hiding any Arcane objects or abilities she may have.
